Exploring DAO Applications
This Saturday Tech Alley and I will be hosting Brunch N’ Hack. We will be breaking into teams, exploring the application of Distributed Autonomous Organizations, aka DAOs, on behalf of some local organizations and businesses, and presenting our results. Let’s set the stage.
Goal: To record and validate kids’ educational achievements.
Accredited institutions use a standardized system for recording your transcript, but this is unavailable for those outside formal education who’d like their skills and achievements recognized. Some approaches include:
“Micro-Credentials”, where community, peers, and teachers can award any credential through a transparent process.
“Milestone Awards”, where micro-credentials add up to recognition of general expertise in some subject.

Goal: To increase customer traffic and reduce profit volatility by providing control of entertainment options to loyal customers.
Why do you go to your local pub or restaurant? “Local” has a lot to do with it, but why THAT one? What do you wish they’d do but they just don’t have the time, staff, money, etc. to do? Maybe better music, live music, maybe the owner’s next brewing experiment. A “Loyalty Playlist” could allow loyal customers to propose and choose what song is played next, in a never ending playlist chosen by you and your friends. We’ll be exploring all the maybes.
